Generic Exhumation Flow in Compliance with NEA regulation.
Site Survey
The site is inspected, marked and prepared for exhumation.
This is usually conducted by professional staffs of NEA or authorized private contractors.
Permit Application
Families must register and apply for the necessary permits through NEA after site survey.
This step is mandatory for allowing the exhumation to proceed legally, and must be completed before further arrangements.
Ground Breaking Ceremony (Optional)
Families may choose or select an auspicious date for the exhumation, and to perform groundbreaking ceremony to honor cultural or religious traditions. These ceremonies may include blessings, prayers and ritual conducted by a priest, monk or religious representative. Vendors and family-appointed representatives may assist with planning and execution.
Exhumation Process
Professionals carefully dig grave, retrieve the remains and unseal the casket (if necessary).
Families may take part in bone-picking ceremonies based on their cultural or religious belief.
Cremation or Reinterment
The remain may be cremated, with ashes placed in a columbarium or as decided by the family.
Alternatively, they can be reburied in another plot.
Final Prayers and Closure (Optional)
Families may hold prayers or rituals for emotional closure. These are optional and can be tailored to tradition, or personal preference with assistance from vendors or religious leaders.
